M31 Andromeda Galaxy

Andromeda · 1/10/2010 - 19:20 UTC · Takahashi FSQ 106ED -FL530 @ f/5

About the target

Andromeda is the nearest spiral galaxy to the Milky Way (opens in a new tab), but not the closest galaxy (opens in a new tab) overall. As it is visible from Earth as a faint smudge on a moonless night, it is one of the farthest objects visible to the naked eye (opens in a new tab), and can be seen even from urban areas with binoculars.
